Then a man who looks like Cary Grant walks into her café and sweeps her off her feet. Her life changes, but it is the skill of the author that it changes in a completely unexpected way. Because this is also the story of 11-year old Clare, who watches in horror as her mother has a mental breakdown. Circumstance brings Cornelia and Clare together, and love — simple, complicated, difficult and necessary — that helps them decide what kind of lives they each want. It sounds very sad and dramatic, but there’s also romance, warmth and wit. I loved these characters — even though I had to explain to my coworkers why I was crying at my desk as I read the last few pages. The book is Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos on Fiction Nation.
